The
largest and leading fashion event in East and Central Africa, Swahili Fashion
Week has officially announced the nominated names and voting process for the
SWAHILI FASHION WEEK AWARDS 2012 (SFWA).
Following
the great success of last year, the Swahili Fashion Week Awards 2012 to remark
fifth anniversary has undergone exciting development resulting in the addition
of 3 new categories to existing ones from last year; thus increasing the number
of categories to 15 from 12 last year.
The
categories of this year include: Best Male Model, Best Female Model, Best East
African Model (New), Designer of the Year, East African Designer of the Year,
Redd’s Stylish Female Personality, Stylish Male Personality, Innovative
Designer, Best Men’s Wear, Fashion TV Program of the Year (New), Vodacom Fashion
Blog of the Year, Fashion Photographer of the Year, Fashion Journalist of the
Year, Best East African Journalist (New), Upcoming Designer.
The voting
process is powered by Push Mobile where by voter has to vote by writing
Nominee’s code to 15678 and all votes will be audited by PKF. The winners of
these awards will be announced on the third day of Swahili Fashion Week,
Saturday 8th December, 2012 at Golden Tulip Hotel, Dar es salaam,
Tanzania.

Swahili Fashion Week
is the largest annual fashion platform in East and Central Africa, to
date. Now In its fifth year, Swahili Fashion Week is now
the platform for fashion and accessory designers from Swahili Speaking Countries
and the African continent to showcase their talent, market their creativity and
network with clientele. This is all aimed at emphasizing to the region that fashion is an income generating creative industry,
whilst promoting "Made in Africa"
concept.
Having initiated a dynamic and promising
platform for the fashion industry in the region, Swahili Fashion Week is now geared
towards being the most sought out
after fashion platform in Africa for
the international market founded, created and conceptualised in year 2008 by
Mustafa Hassanali.
As of 2013, Swahili Fashion Week will be
a Bi-Annual Event, with Kenyan Edition to be Held during the first Half of the
year and the Main event to be held in the later half, in
Tanzania.

Wandaaji wa Tuzo kubwa za mitindo katika ukanda wa Afrika
mashariki na kati wametangaza majina ya waliopendekezwa kushiriki katika kuwania
tuzo mbalimbali za Swahili Fashion Week 2012 ikiwa pamoja na njia zitakazotumika
kuwapigia kura washiriki wa tuzo hizo.
Kufuatia mafanikio makubwa yaliyopatikana katika tuzo za
mwaka jana, Tuzo za Swahili Fashion Week 2012 zinazoendana na kusherehekea miaka
mitano tangu kuzaliwa kwa onyesho hili kubwa la mitindo Afrika Mashariki na kati
mwaka huu, zimeongezwa tuzo nyengine tatu kutoka katika tuzo za mwaka jana ili
kuweza kutoa changamoto kubwa zaidi katika tasnia ya mitindo hapa nchini na
ukanda wote wa Afrika Mashariki na Kati. Hivyo kufanya jumla ya tuzo 15 kuwaniwa
mwaka huu kutoka tuzo 12 za mwaka jana.

Mchakato mzima wa kuchagua mwanamitindo na mbunifu wako
bora kwa mwaka huu wa 2012 unasimamiwa na PUSH Mobile ambapo mpiga kura
atatakiwa kutuma ujumbe mfupi wa Namba ya mshiriki (CODE) unaemkubali na kwenda
kwenye namba 15678, huku mchakato mzima wa kuzihakiki kura hizo utafanywa na

Swahili Fashion
Week ni jukwaa kubwa la mitindo ya mavazi la kila
mwaka katika ukanda wa Afrika mashariki na kati kwa sasa. Huu ni mwaka wa Tano sasa, ambapo Swahili Fashion Week
imekuwa ni Jukwaa la wanamitindo na watengeneza vito vya urembo kutoka katika
nchi zinazoongea Kiswahili na bara zima la Afrika kwa ujumla kuweza kuonesha
vipaji, kutangaza ubunifu wao na kukuza mtandao wa mawasiliano ya kibiashara
ndani na nje ya nchi kwa wadau wa mitindo. Hili limelenga kuhamasisha ukanda huu wa Afrika
Mashariki na Kati kwamba ubunifu wa
mavazi ni njia moja wapo ya kujipatia kipato na wakati huo huo kukuza bidhaa
zinazotengenezwa Afrika ( Made in Africa

Ikiwa imeanzisha uhai na jukwaa la matumaini kwa kilinge cha mitindo
katika ukanda huu, Swahili Fashion Week Swahili Fashion week imelenga kuwa
maonyesho ya ubunifu wa mavazi linaloonekana sana Afrika na hasa kwa ajili ya
soko la kimataifa, lililoundwa, kutengenezwa na kujengwa mwaka 2008 na Mustafa
Hassanali.
Ifikapo mwaka 2013, Swahili Fashion Week ina lengo
la kuwa ni tukio litakalotokea mara mbili kwa mwaka, ambapo kwa kuanza tukio la
kwanza litafanyika nchini Kenya kama sehemu ya kwanza kisha tukio lenyewe kabisa
kufanyika baadae nchini Tanzania kama sehemu ya pili.
